Carillo’s new cigar

Casa Carrillo Debuts "Silk": A New Chapter in the La Historia Line

As the 2025 PCA Convention & Trade Show approaches, Casa Carrillo has announced a meaningful expansion to its celebrated Perez-Carrillo La Historia line with the debut of “Silk,” a new sub-brand that honors the voices and experiences of women in the cigar world.

A Cigar Inspired by Women, Crafted for Everyone

Silk is described by Casa Carrillo as a cigar “inspired by women, but made for all cigar lovers.” It’s the first cigar to bear the new Casa Carrillo foot band, marking a fresh era for the company after its recent rebrand from E.P. Carrillo to Casa Carrillo.

Co-owner Lissette Perez-Carrillo emphasized the significance of this release in a press statement:

“Silk was born from listening. It reflects the stories, experiences, and insights of women in our industry, while being crafted for all cigar lovers. Having it be the first release to carry the Casa Carrillo name on its foot band makes it even more meaningful—it’s a symbol of our evolution and the future we’re building.”

Blend Development & Community Input

When the project was first announced, Casa Carrillo revealed it would be a 6 x 52 toro, but left the final wrapper selection open to feedback from retailers and women within the cigar community. Three wrappers were tested, and ultimately, the blend selected features:

  • Wrapper: Habano-seed leaf from Quevedo, Ecuador

  • Binder: Nicaraguan leaf from Estelí

  • Filler blend:

    • Dominican La Canela

    • Dominican Pelo de Oro

    • Mexican San Andrés

    • Pennsylvania Broadleaf

    • Estelí, Nicaragua

Alternative wrapper options considered included Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed and Mexican San Andrés, but the Ecuadorian Habano-seed ultimately stood out for its balance and complexity.

Release Details

  • Size: 6 x 52 Toro

  • MSRP: $16.50 per cigar

  • Packaging: Boxes of 10 cigars

  • Availability: Limited, small-batch production throughout the year

Casa Carrillo has confirmed that Silk will remain an exclusive, limited-run offering, with ongoing production handled in small batches to preserve its premium and unique identity.

Ties to La Historia, with a Distinct Identity

While Silk is an extension of the La Historia family, it features an entirely different blend. The original La Historia—launched in 2014—uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, Ecuadorian Sumatra binder, and Nicaraguan fillers. Silk, by contrast, offers a more intricate, international blend that brings new flavor dimensions while honoring the brand’s rich heritage.

A Generational Milestone

Silk also represents a generational moment for the Carrillo family. Skye Perez-Carrillo, Lissette’s daughter, was involved in the project, continuing the family legacy into its fifth generation. Her contribution brings a fresh perspective and reinforces Casa Carrillo’s ongoing commitment to evolution through family and tradition.

With the launch of Silk, Casa Carrillo isn’t just introducing a new cigar—they're telling a story, embracing community input, and highlighting the important role women play in shaping the cigar industry’s present and future.
